DUALENE EPX IMC W

DESCRIPTION AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Two-component, water-based epoxy primer as a treatment prior to the application of water-based protective cycles and for the consolidation of cementitious and absorbent substrates in general; as a protective film-forming anti-dust treatment of cement floors and masonry walls; as an adhesion promoter in construction joint on cured cement.

MAIN FEATURES

Used as a primer, it promotes the adhesion of the subsequent water-based protective cycle and prevents the absorption of the substrate from depleting the binder in the finish, thus altering its final performance; as a consolidating agent, it aggregates cementitious and absorbent substrates in general, making them cohesive again. Used as anti-dust varnish, it provides resistance to abrasion by pedestrians and rubber-tired vehicles and avoids the penetration of oil and water, giving good chemical resistance to the treated floor. When used for costruction joints, it allows the new mortar to adhere to the previous seasoned one.

APPLICATION DATA

The substrate must be clean, free of substances that impede the penetration of the product (waxes, silicones, oily traces), and parts that are detaching. The limited presence of humidity in the floor is not an obstacle to the product’s application. The presence of water in counter-pressure may cause detachment of the product and of any overcoated finish. Base product and hardener should be mixed thoroughly for a few minutes, if possible mechanically. The necessary dilutions with water must always be made on the catalysed product. Do not dilute too much in order not to reduce the thickness and the performance of the product.

When treating large surfaces, mix the diluted product occasionally during use. Primer / consolidation: dilute from 70 to 100% with clean water depending on the absorption and the state of cohesion of the substrate. A single coat of primer is usually enough to provide the correct preparation of the substrate.

Particularly disaggregated or highly porous substrates may require a second coat, to be applied within 15-20 h after the previous one. In order to establish optimum consumption and dilution, carry out tests before treating. Anti-dust varnish: apply a first coat diluted 70-80% with clean water and within 15-20 h, a second coat diluted 40-50%. Costruction joint: apply one coat of undiluted product and within 3-4 hrs, apply the new mortar.

The application can be made by brush, roller or spray, also airless. When overcoating two-component water-based products, wait for the previous coat to dry (formation of a transparent film). Do not wait longer than 15-20 hours, so as not to compromise the adhesion of the new coat. Operate at temperatures between 10-35°C (use below 10°C does not allow the catalysis reaction), even of the substrate, avoiding application in full sun during the summer season. Wash tools with water immediately after use.

YIELD

Yield depends on the method of use, dilution with water and absorption rate of the substrate. Primer / consolidation: on average, about 6-8 m2 can be treated with 1 L of diluted product, corresponding to about 60-80 g of concentrated product. Anti-dust varnish: on average, apply approx. 6-8 m2 with 1 litre of product diluted at 70%, corresponding to approx. 70-80 g of concentrated product for the first coat; apply approx. 4-5 m2 with 1 litre of product diluted at 40%, corresponding to approx. 150 g of concentrated product for the second coat. Costruction joint: on average, approx. 250 g/ m2 of product is consumed without dilution.
