DUALENE EPX LAC

DESCRIPTION AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Glossy, self-levelling, solvent-free two-component epoxy system for the decorative vitrification of horizontal interior surfaces subject only to pedestrian traffic.

MAIN FEATURES

Solvent-free system that can be easily used indoors; its viscosity allows it to be used as a self-levelling product; glossy finish with good mechanical resistance; allows objects to be incorporated to obtain decorative effects. Due to its mechanical resistance, it is not suitable for industrial environments; heavy foot traffic may cause localised dulling of the coating; to increase scratch resistance, treat the surfaces with protective waxes or varnishes, may reduce the gloss of the system. It reaches its maximum resistance when hardening is complete, approx. 8 days after application under normal conditions.

APPLICATION DATA

The substrate must be clean, free of substances that impede the adhesion of the system (waxes, silicones, oily traces), compact and very important dry. The presence of water in the substrate, without specific preliminary treatment, may cause the coating to detach. New concrete substrates must be seasoned for at least 40 days. When using the system as a top coat on trowelled finishes, wait for it to dry completely; if it is an epoxy, pour the product within max. 24 h (at 23°C).

If the transparent self-levelling layer is applied over previous finishes, prepare them by suitable mechanical roughening of the surface, always checking the adhesion of the previous finish to the substrate and of the epoxy system to the product in place. Base product and hardener must be mixed thoroughly before use, preferably mechanically, and the mixture must be used without any dilution. Pour the product and spread it with a spatula, repassing the surface several times with a spiked roller. The conditions of the work environment must be such as to prevent any powdery parts or other foreign bodies from falling into the unhardened coating, thus altering its appearance.

When overcoating between single layers and any finishing coatings, work within 12 to 16 hours so as not to compromise adhesion. Clean tools immediately after use with thinner (nitro, for epoxy), or ethyl alcohol. Work at temperatures between 15-30°C, even of the support (at temperatures lower than 10°C, the catalysis is not complete), and with R.H. < 80%.

YIELD

The yield depends on the type of substrate and its roughness. For 1 mm thickness, approx. 1.1 kg/m2 is consumed. To evaluate it, carry out tests previously.
