DESCRIPTION AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION
Water-based lithium silicate solution for treating new or weathered absorbent concrete surfaces, including outdoor surfaces. Highly penetrating, it reacts with the cementitious matrix of the substrate, reducing its surface porosity; treated surfaces increase resistance to abrasion, reduce water absorption, and prevent dust and efflorescence formation (no ASR alkali-aggregate reaction). When mechanically polished, treated surfaces acquire a brighter and cleaner appearance.
MAIN FEATURES
Water-based inorganic mineral product, VOC-free, non-film-forming maintains the natural breathability of the treated concrete substrate, does not form surface films subject to possible detachment. Reaction products (tricalcium hydrated silicate), are UV-resistant, so the product is suitable for use externally as well; high penetration, higher than that of other silicates (sodium-potassium).
It hardens the treated surface, reduces water absorption by giving abrasion resistance and anti-dust effect, maintaining the original appearance of the substrate and facilitating cleaning. Easy to apply, when mechanically polished it improves the aesthetic appearance of the treated substrate. The product completes its reaction in the cement matrix in a few days.
APPLICATION DATA
The product is supplied ready to use. Surfaces to be treated must be absorbent, clean, free of oil, grease, dirt in general or treatments that hinder product penetration. Avoid treating damp surfaces, with the presence of exuded water and excessively decohesive.
The product is used on new castings (laid for at least 3-4 days), sanded or finished with superficial cement dusting; cured substrates, once conditions have been verified, can be treated immediately. Optimal application is carried out with a sprayer pump, also manually; alternatively, it is possible to evenly distribute the product on the surface to be treated by spreading it with a roller, spatula pull water.
Regardless of the application system adopted, the surface must be kept uniformly wet with product for at least 30 min. to allow its proper penetration into the substrate, avoiding areas without product superficially, which could generate an uneven final appearance. After the minimum impregnation time has elapsed, remove excess product by absorbing or vacuuming it. Wait for the treatment to dry completely (1-2 h under normal conditions), before proceeding with any final polishing (black/red pad). Put the substrate into operation at least 24 h after drying.
Use neutral or slightly alkaline detergents for maintenance; avoid the use of acids. Regular washing with water, activates additional crystal formation in the cementitious substrate, making it more’ cohesive and resistant to abrasion. Close the packages carefully after use and in any case use them as quickly as possible.
Operate at temperatures between 10-30°C, including of the substrate, and avoid applying in full sun during the summer season. For cleaning he tools use water immediately after use, when dry the product should be removed mechanically.. 1
