MONOPOL PL 12

DESCRIPTION AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Specific product with complexing action for removing “black crusts” of calcareous composition from stone supports.

The particular type of dirt on which it acts, with a predominantly chalky composition, is formed following the reaction of sulphur compounds present in the polluted atmosphere with the carbonate component of stone materials.

MAIN FEATURES

The product, based on complexing compounds with chelating action, acts on the black crust by binding part of its components, thus causing its disintegration.

It is supplied slightly thickened to facilitate application, reduce the speed of drying on the substrate and avoid excessive penetration into it.

PRELIMINARY TESTS

The degree of final cleaning depends on the thickness of the incrustations to be removed, the contact time and the number of applications required. Preliminary tests must therefore be carried out on the substrate to be treated in order to establish the best sequence of applications and the quantity of product, depending on the type of incrustation, the desired degree of cleanliness and the climatic conditions.

APPLICATION DATA

The product is supplied ready to use. The application is made by brush. In the hot season, to slow down the drying process, it may be useful to moisten the substrate first. To increase the contact time it is possible to cover the surface with plastic sheets after the application of the product and/or prepare compresses with the help of absorbent fillers (paper pulp, attapulgite, etc.). The contact time varies according to the thickness of the incrustation and the climatic conditions. It can vary from 30 minutes to several hours. Do not allow the cleaner to dry completely on the work, if this should happen, moisten with water spray.

Before the final rinse with water, apply a light mechanical action using synthetic or natural bristle brushes (not metal) to remove softened dirt. Use water under pressure, even with a simple sprayer.

Operate at temperatures between 10 – 30 °C, even of the substrate, avoiding application in full sun during the summer season. If necessary, repeat the treatment.

YIELD

The yield varies greatly depending on the degree of soiling and the condition of the substrate. Preliminary tests are essential for assessing product consumption. On average, approx. 0,1 – 0,25 L /m2 per coat applied.
