DUALENE EPX FTR

DESCRIPTION AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Two-component, solvent-based epoxy resin varnish as primer to the application of solvent-based protective cycles on cementitious or absorbent substrates in general; the product is also used as a primer for the treatment of ceramic substrates.

MAIN FEATURES

Product with good wettability, promotes adhesion of the subsequent protective cycle. The final concentration of resin prevents the absorption in the substrate from reducing the binder content of the finish, thus altering its performance characteristics. Used without dilution on non-absorbent substrates (tiles, stoneware, etc.), it forms a highly adhesive layer for properly adhering painting cycles.

APPLICATION DATA

The substrate must be clean, free of substances that impede the penetration of the product (waxes, silicones, oily traces), compact and very important dry. The presence of water in the substrate can cause the subsequent coating to detach. Absorbent substrates The product is supplied concentrated to be diluted before use. Base product and hardener must be mixed thoroughly before use. Always dilute after mixing the two components; the product can be diluted up to 1:1 by volume with epoxy thinner (over 60% no longer complies with VOC Directive 2004/42/EC). A single coat of primer is usually sufficient to ensure correct preparation of the substrate. If the substrate is very porous, apply a second coat within 24 hours of the previous one. In the presence of absorbed oil, if there is evidence of slippage, sand the surface and apply a further coat of unthinned product. Non-absorbent substrates Use the product without dilution; a single coat is normally sufficient to form an adherent layer on compact substrates. In order to establish the best consumption in relation to absorption, it is advisable to carry out tests before treatment. The application can be made by brush, roller or spray, also airless. Wait 15-24 hours at 25°C before applying the finish. Do not exceed 24 hours to avoid excessive cross-linking of the base. To clean tools use nitro thinner or epoxy thinner immediately after use. Operate at temperatures between 15-30°C (use below 10°C does not allow the catalysis reaction), even of the substrate, avoiding application in full sun during the summer season.

YIELD

Absorbent substrates The yield varies depending on the absorbency of the substrate. On average, 6-8 m2/L of diluted product are treated, corresponding on average to 0.08 L/m2 of concentrated product. Non-absorbent substrates On average, treat 10 L/m2 of unthinned product.
