MONOPOL PT 18

DESCRIPTION AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Product based on potassium propylsiliconate. It is a product with water-repellent action for non-alkaline absorbent surfaces such as natural stones, bricks, roof tiles, gypsum, expanded concrete. It allows the creation of chemical barriers against capillary rising damp.

MAIN FEATURES

Treated substrates reduce water absorption primary vehicle through which weathering agents penetrate the structure of materials, developing disintegrating reactions. At the same time, frost damage and the formation of salt efflorescence are reduced. The active substance having small molecular size, does not change the vapor permeability of the treated material, any moisture present in it can thus escape. In addition, as a rule, it does not alter the color appearance. It also performs antisalt action by preventing water and salts dissolved in it from migrating to the surface.

All products with water-repellent action must be restored every 3 to 4 years to maintain the protective properties

APPLICATION DATA

The product is supplied ready to use and should be stored in closed containers to prevent contact with atmospheric carbon dioxide from deactivating it. Due to its mineral nature, glazed surfaces, tiles, terracotta, glass, etc., must be protected to prevent indelible staining. In order to determine the optimal consumption depending on the absorption and degradation of the support, carry out preliminary tests before treatment on representative samples of the material on which you are working.

The substrate must be clean, with no obstacles to penetration; traces of moisture do not affect the use of the product, they may, however, hinder its penetration, in the absence of which the product may whiten superficially.

Application can be done by brush. It is preferable to use low-pressure spraying, even with a hand sprayer pump, which allows for more uniform application of product. Regardless of the application system adopted, operate with the “wet-on-wet” technique, proceeding from the bottom up, to avoid product drippings on the untreated substrate remaining evident after application is completed.

Do not apply additional amounts of product over previously dried product to avoid the formation of surface halos. Operate at temperatures of 10 to 30°C, including of the substrate, avoiding application in direct sunlight so as not to impair penetration.

Used in the construction of chemical barriers, make holes in the substrate and inject the product by gravity or by pressure pump; frequency and depth of holes should be evaluated in relation to the structure.

Treated surfaces should be protected from rain for the first 24-48 h after application.

Clean tools with water immediately after use.

YIELD

The yield varies depending on the absorption of the substrate and its storage conditions. On average it is between 0,2 – 0,5 L/m2. In the manufacture of chemical barriers, consumption varies significantly depending on the type of substrate treated
