MONOPOL PT 12

DESCRIPTION AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Fluorinated solvent-based product for the hydro- oleophobic treatment of absorbent surfaces such as natural stone, cementitious substrates (on which it performs anticarbonation action), bricks and building substrates in general.

MAIN FEATURES

Treated substrates reduce water absorption primary vehicle through which weathering agents penetrate the structure of materials, developing disintegrating reactions. At the same time, frost damage and the formation of salt efflorescence are reduced. The active substance having small molecular size, does not change the vapor permeability of the treated material, any moisture present in it can thus evaporate, normally it does not change the vapor permeability of the treated material.

In addition, normally, it does not alter the color appearance.

All water-repellent products must be restored every 3-4 years to maintain their protective properties.

PRELIMINARY TESTS

Before use, carry out preliminary tests on samples of the substrate to be treated in order to determine the amount of product needed to saturate the porosity and evaluate any color toning.

APPLICATION DATA

The product is supplied ready to use. The surfaces to be treated must be clean, free of oil, grease or other dirt that hinders the penetration of the product and very important dry, the presence of water in the capillaries of the substrate does not allow the application of the protective. Application can be done by brush or spray, for horizontal surfaces also by short-haired roller. Regardless of the application system adopted, operate with the “wet-on-wet” technique, on vertical surfaces always proceed from the bottom up to avoid product drippings on the untreated substrate remaining evident after application is completed. In case the substrate does not fully absorb the product, the excess must be removed (with rag, brush, etc.), before drying.

Remove oily substances by absorption with swabs or other suitable means as soon as possible after they are spread; prolonged surface contact may cause partial absorption. If degreasing (non-chemically aggressive) cleaners are used, plan to reapply the protectant after washing to maintain treatment performance.

Operate at temperatures between 10-30C, including of the substrate, and avoid applying in direct sunlight so as not to impair penetration.

Clean tools with thinner (white spirit, nitro, for synthetics), immediately after use.

YIELD

The yield varies depending on the absorption of the support and the state of deterioration.

On average, 0,1 – 0,3 L /m2 can be treated.
